Because we have seen this question come in repeatedly and know that there is not much on Robert Peck in our collection, we recommend trying a few approaches to searching.

Begin with OneSearch on the library homepage (www.sunyempire.edu/library) first, and try searching separately for:

  • Bernice Neugarten AND aging
  • Daniel Levinson AND aging
  • Robert Peck AND aging

Other terms to try might include "adult development."

The AND in all caps is a command to tell OneSearch that you want both sets of keywords in the articles it returns.

For more help with alternative keywords and how to combine them for the best search results, visit the Searching for Information Resources section of our Research Skills Tutorial.

When you view your search results, you should see an option to click in the left column "in scholarly/peer reviewed journals only" and this will help narrow things down more, if needed.

If you don't see articles on these topics in your search results, you can try the "expand search results option" near the top to see what we can request for you via interlibrary loan. We can usually get ILLed articles to your email within 24 hours.

You will have better luck searching Google or another search engine for the Robert Peck articles. For example, we've seen some articles from National Institutes of Health (NIH). Just be wary of anything that looks like other students' course work on this subject as there is plenty of that on the Web rather than scholarly material.

For scholarly results, also try searching via https://scholar.google.com.

The following article may be of some help as it mentions all three and is a review of the literature in this field. I'd suggest reading the article, but also scanning the list of references at the end of the article, because you may be able to track down some of THOSE articles (whether in our library or via Google Scholar) to round out what you need for this assignment.
